Was Your Driver’s License Suspended?
If you received notice of a driver’s license suspension, you are not alone. Driver’s license suspensions are issued by the state on a regular basis. For some, suspension is no surprise. However, for others, a notice of suspension not only surprises but also leaves them asking, “Why?”
In Washington, a drivers’ license suspension can happen for a number of reasons, many of which may shock you. Some of the lesser-known reasons include:
- Evading a police officer
- Failure to appear in court
- Failure to submit complete certificates of health
- Fuel theft
- Failing to pay child support
- Pending DUI charge
- Probation violations
How I Can Help If Your Suspension Is DUI-Related
Many clients turn to me for help after DUI arrests. In Washington, a DUI arrest results in an automatic license suspension unless the accused individual requests an administrative hearing. The request can be made online or mailed to the Department of Licensing. A request must be postmarked within 20 days of an arrest or notification of suspension.
Depending on the amount of time that has passed since your arrest, an attorney can assist in a number of ways. I can help request the hearing, represent your interests at the administrative hearing or serve as your defense lawyer during your DUI hearing − or all three.
Help For Non-DUI-Related Suspensions
When clients come to the Law Office of Sarah McFadden for help, I always begin by determining the reasons behind their license suspensions. When I uncover those reasons, I usually find underlying issues that need to be resolved before I can pursue license reinstatement.
If DUI is not the reason, I will help you understand the reason for your suspension and build a plan to help you overcome the obstacle standing between you and your driving privileges.
